James Luceno's Darth Plagueis Novel and Christie Golden's Vestara Khai Short Story News from Del Rey

Del Rey Editor Erich Schoeneweiss who is frequently the man behind the curtain at the Star Wars Books Facebook page, indicated by the signature "(ES)," dropped fans some news today regarding the long in development Darth Plagueis novel and news on a new short story by Christie Golden.

Regarding Darth Plagueis:
I came into the office this morning to find an email from Shelly Shapiro with James Luceno's Darth Plagueis manuscript attached. To say I'm excited to read this is an understatement. (ES)
As for what it's about, I haven't read it yet but I think it's safe to assume it will be about Darth Plagueis and his Sith apprentice, Darth Sidious. I'm hoping we get some cool back story on Sidious. And we're targeting a January 2012 pub date. (ES)

as of now, the title is simply STAR WARS: DARTH PLAGUEIS. (ES)
A little taste for you all, from the first page: “Darth Bane would appreciate our efforts,” the Sith Master was telling his apprentice... (ES)

Regarding Christie Golden's Short Story: "First Blood"

Just read Christie Golden's story about Vestara Khai, "First Blood," that will appear in the next issue of STAR WARS INSIDER. The story was great and will feature paintings of Vestara by artist Brian Rood. If you're a short story fan, you've got to start picking up the magazine. (ES)
Thanks to Erich and the rest of the good folks at Del Rey for keeping fans in the Star Wars Expanded Universe loop.
