Make-A-Wish Foundation and George Lucas make a dream come true for a young Star Wars fan with cancer

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a tremendous organization and George Lucas/Lucasfilm deserve lots of credit for working with the group. 

Recently Star Wars and Make-A-Wish teamed up to make 11 year old Sam Labertew's dream come true.  Unfortunately Sam has acute lymphoblastic leukemia.  Sam and his family got to take time away from battling his terrible disease to take a trip to Skywalker Ranch and it sounds like they had a lots of fun.

Fortunately, the Skywalker Ranch trip in California was scheduled was for one of Sam’s “good” weeks. The family — including Sam’s siblings Jacob, 13 and Lilia, 6, — stayed in downtown San Francisco. After a day of sightseeing, the Labertews spent an entire day at Skywalker Ranch.

They saw George Lucas’ office, including his private library and collections of art and “Star Wars” memorabilia. They toured the main warehouses and the archive warehouse building. They had lunch on the property.

Later, the Labertews previewed a new version of “Star Wars” in the same room as the quality control people. They met two of the voices from the “Clone Wars” who are also sound editors for the animated series. They returned plied with gifts.
